Holiday Activities

These are run every half term as well as Easter and summer holidays.

Each session is integrated with 70% of the children attending having a special need/disability. Sessions run from 9.30-12.00 in the morning and 12.30-3.00 in the afternoon. The majority of children attend for a full day, where they bring a packed lunch with them.

The children attending the Holiday Activities have a wide range of special needs/disabilities including – Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, Spina Bifida, Autism, Cystic Fibrosis, complex health needs, visual impairment, language delay, behavior/emotional problems and many more including those without a diagnosis. Each session has a wide variety of activities for the children to explore and play with, as well as a well-equipped multi sensory room for them to enjoy and experience.

We also have people come who organise various activities such as music therapy, art and craft, zoo lab, the fire service, as well as taking the children out to experience different situations i.e. swimming, trips to the park, walk to the woods etc. We have a well–equipped, safe and secure outdoor play area with a large canopy to ensure the children are safe from the harmful sun’s rays and protected from the ‘elements’. We have a high ratio of staff to children with some of the children receiving one to one support. All staff receive regular training, are C.R.B. checked and many have a experience of working with children who have special needs/disabilities.

The Holiday Activities also take a large number of children who reside at the local Women’s Refuge, giving these children the opportunity to spend time away from the refuge, enjoy playing with other children and experiencing a safe environment to play and be happy.

If anyone would like to access our Holiday Activities, whether you have a child with a special need/disability or not, (as it is integrated so we take children without special needs) or would like more information, please contact the Centre and ask to speak to the Family Services Manager who will be delighted to answer any questions you may have. Cost is £5 per session, £10 for a full day.
