Can The Centre Help Me?

The centre is there to provide support to both children and their families.

This support can be whatever the need is for the child or family at the time.

A child or the family can be referred by statutory bodies i.e. Paediatrician, Health Visitor, Physiotherapist, Portage Worker, Early Years Practitioners, GP, etc. Families can also self refer by phoning the centre themselves to ask for advice.

In order to refer you simply need to phone or write to the Family Services Manager requesting a visit. She will then phone to arrange a visit to the home, where she will:

  • Assess the need of the child or family
  • Explain what services the centre can offer
  • Explain what services there are available within their area or within Gloucestershire.
  • Determine if the family would like to access any of the services within the centre or receive home visiting support.

To qualify for a service within the centre the child must be between birth and seven years of age and have a special need/disability, such as:

  • Language delay
  • Autism
  • Aspergers syndrome
  • Downs syndrome
  • Medical conditions
  • Visual impairment
  • Hearing impairment
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Behaviour problems
  • Global developmental delay

Plus any other special need, including those children who have no diagnosis
